Diljit Dosanjh Announces His Next Delhi Concert for 2028; Complaint Seeks Restrictions on Several Songs at Tonight’s Show

New Delhi: Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is all set to perform at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on October 30. Ahead of the concert, the singer interacted with fans during a live session and revealed that he has a long list of songs prepared for the show but limited time to perform them. He also confirmed that his next concert in the national capital will take place in 2028.

Diljit Asks Fans to Suggest Songs

During the live interaction, Diljit said it was difficult to decide which tracks should make it to the setlist and which ones would have to be left out. He acknowledged that fans could be disappointed if their favourite songs were not performed.

To involve his audience in the selection, he decided to sing a few tracks during the live session and asked fans to send him their song requests through messages. Responding to one such request, he promised to perform ‘Saanson Ki Mala’ at the Delhi concert.

Concert to Begin at 7:30 PM, Must End by 10 PM

Diljit informed fans that the concert would begin at 7:30 PM and must conclude by 10 PM due to strict guidelines. He urged concertgoers to reach Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by 6:30 PM so they could enjoy the performance from the beginning.

Special Appeal to Use Delhi Metro

The singer also asked fans to use the Delhi Metro to reach the venue. According to him, Delhi Police had informed him that metro services would remain available until midnight in view of the concert.

He further pointed out that parking would not be available at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, making the metro a more convenient option for attendees.

When Will Diljit Perform in Delhi Again?

Diljit revealed that the October 30 event is the first Delhi show of his 2026 tour. He also told fans that he would return to the capital only in 2028. With the next Delhi performance still some time away, he said he intended to give his best at the current concert.

Complaint Seeks Ban on Some Songs

Meanwhile, the concert has drawn attention over a complaint submitted by Chandigarh-based Dr Panditrao Dharennavar to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East), Delhi. He has objected to certain songs in Diljit’s repertoire and requested that tracks such as ‘Patiala Peg’, ‘5 Taara Theke’ and ‘Jeb Vichon Feem Labbiya’ not be performed at the event.

The complainant has also sought a restriction on performing these songs with altered lyrics.

Demand to Keep Children Off the Stage

The complaint has raised concerns about children being invited on stage during the concert. Dharennavar has argued that loud music and flashing lights could have an adverse impact on children’s health and has requested that they not be brought on stage.

Objection to Bullet Belt and Gun-Like Gestures

The complainant has also objected to Diljit wearing a silver bullet belt, which resembles a strip of ammunition. According to him, wearing such accessories and making gestures that imitate firing a gun could send a message that promotes violence.

2019 High Court Order Cited in Complaint

Dharennavar has referred to a 2019 order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in support of his demands. He has claimed that the order addressed restrictions on songs promoting alcohol, drugs and violence. The complaint also mentions the government’s ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ as part of the basis for seeking these restrictions.
